Galaxies colliding and merging
I love this incredible visualization of a simulation of two galaxies colliding, and the comparaison with fantastic images of galaxy mergers taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.
If anything, it really shows that our simulations seem to be a really good imitation of nature!
Sit back, and enjoy the dynamics of the cosmos :)
Mandelbrot zoomer
This awesome visualization of a Mandelbrot by makc3d set lets you zoom in and out of it super fast (it is pre-rendered). I love it because it really gives you a mindblowing sense of scale invariance if you get the zooming speed right. Nothing like a cool viz to get a good feel for abstract concepts and the Mandelbrot set is so beautiful! It’s one of those iconic science images of my upbringing.
History in bubbles
This visualization is brilliant if only because it is dynamic and it gives a feel of fragility of any given moment that was so brilliantly summarised by my high school physics teacher:
Life is a succession of states of unstable equilibrium
:)
Enjoy
